…these little pidgeons were made today and like talking to each other. theu like eating baked beans and collectiong pebbles. i have enjoyed making these and the others and hope to make some more next week when i get some more ‘eyes’ as i have run out!
…the pidgeons have flown in…
well five of the little beauties landed in today. am making another batch in a moment. i have had these on my todo list for a very long time and i finally got around to creating them. they are made using my own pidgeon stencil and are made in two sections. first the legs and then the body. they are hand stuffed with love and a magic pebble to weigh them down. the idea is to create some more of my knitted vines on a branch for them to dangle from like the original-of which i will post a pic later!
its been a while what with all the celebrations and that. i am planning to make some pidgeons later today and will post up pics later. some i will be selling – fingers crossed – all details will follow. i have been doodling and am figuring out a name for my new plan should i ever get round to sorting it out what with other work to do and all! arrrgghhhh!
…this is one of the rehomed photos. i havent worked directly onto the original but worked on to a reprint of it instead. i love buttons and so thought i would give her some of mine as i have too many. i have been slow going with the work today but am glad i have made a start! sometimes i tend to think too much instead of getting on with it!
…have started a new project at uni based upon the word ‘palimpsest’. i am working into an old dictionary i bought from the flea market with old photographs for inspiration. i do not like drawing people. i am warming to the idea of doing so if i attack the task in a doodle way!
…i found these photos and plenty of others at the flea market today. am just wondering about naming them and creating doodles and drawingd from them. if any of you could name them or one of them what would you call them and what personality would you give them?
…abit different this time. this one invloves abit of text about exercising greyhounds and a different pattern. i have done some in red and chocolately colours and they dont seem to look as nice as these. i still have my silkscreen though and plan to do some more later next week.
…have been in the print room again and created a gigantic screen full of too many combinations of possible layers and then throw in the colour bit and its chaos for my brain cell! here is one i quite like-the paper i think is too similar to the pattern colour. i like the simplicity of it all though and the colour!
…hello again-after afew busy days in the printroom here are a couple of the prints i did. above is a print from a plate that was photo-etched. i did two other plates aswell – they turned out ok but i think they need more work or i need to consider the image more before i take it to the print process. i printed this plate out in various colours on various papers and need to be more selective in the future i think to get it all right.
…on monday i learnt a new printing technique called photo etching. quite a simple but effect little process. i am still yearning to have another go at screen printing but the nightmare of half washing it away last time pops into my head! am joining the print artlab group tonight at uni so hopefully i will be getting into the swing of printmaking abit more and gaining some valuable experience and that. will post pics of prints tonight when i have been to collect them from uni. i am donating some of the final prints to two charities that help greyhounds.
…am still working away on the photographs i took last week. i did this one mid-week and i think it is quite a strong iconic image. it is quite a long process and in a way i have stalled myself by overthinking the image so i think i need to go back to the spontaneous work and not worry so much as i do about it. i am hoping to actually tackle some painted work this week!
this is pumpkin who is very much part of our little family – theres me and mister and her in our little flat. she eats alot of the time and sleeps with her back leg kicked out. she has proper spiky hair and someone even dared suggest i style her hair that way-nope its all natural!
…i have been not so good this weekend and abit slow to get moving with my workload. i have tidied my area-the floor, the sofa and will do the desk later-its more like a storage area then somewhere to work on at the moment-so now i am already for an evening of creativeness. Have got a bit of stitching in mind and hopefully am going to try out some new techniques with the grehound photos.
At the moment i have just finished making all the toppers to go on seventy wedding cards i am making for a good friend of mine-she is getting married in may 2007. i thought i would take a photo as they all looked so interesting piled up. they havent taken me all long as i orignally thought but what does take up time is the marking out so that everything is even and straight!
thought i would post a few pics up of things i have created. i like creating these little characters but they do get fair tricky to make.
i have had this blog thing for a while now and i think its time i did something with it as i spend alot of time reading other people’s blogs. i apologise if my grammer is not always correct and for the rambling on i tend to do. i plan to use this blog to help me be abit more productive with my illustration work, kind of like a creative diary place. i will make no promises about regular posting but will try to every now and then.
at the moment i am working on a project about greyhounds for uni. am just starting to introduce colour into my work through experiments with some photographs that i took last week.
